Saint-Petersburg Culture Promotion
Association (SPb CPA) was founded in 1992 on recommendations of
the Coordination council of creative unions and the Cultural Committee
of Saint-Petersburg.
Before 1999 it was Saint-Petersburg
department of International Culture Promotion Association and from
1999 it acquired its independent status and current name.
In compliance with the Charter
the main purpose of SPb CPA is promotion of patronage in all the
spheres of culture, cultural cooperation and development of international
cultural links, assistance to the revival of spiritual culture of
Russia.
The President of the Association
is a Honorary Freeman of Saint-Petersburg, National Artist of the
USSR, composer A.P.Petrov, the Chairman of the board is a Honored
cultural worker of RF M.M. Shcheglov, General Director is a Honored
worker of arts of RF B.L.Berezovskiy.
Culture Promotion Association
operates in close contact with the Coordination council of creative
unions and the Cultural Committee of Saint-Petersburg and carries
all the organizational and financial activities of the council.
Besides those responsibilities
the Association holds independent cultural activities as well.
From 1995 till 2002 SPb CPA
was the organizer of Saint-Petersburg literature prize “Northern
Palmira”. In 1999 under the aegis of the Association International
Congress of Poets (named after Pushkin) was held. Over hundred of
Russian-language poets from Russia and other countries participated
in it.
Among the other activities of
the Association is “Autumn exhibition at Palace bridge”, a number
of musical activities held jointly with a Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic
Society including promotion of Russian –American project “Perform
musicals together”
The plans of the Association
for the nearest future is producer support of staging of A. Solovyeva’s
and M.Krylov’s ice opera “Eternity”, assistance in holding of musical
festival “New Europe Stars” as well as a number of other cultural
projects.
